‘9 Months After KS,’ Kim Kwang-hyun and Ahn Woo-jin Play Side-by-Side in QS [SS Literature].

A pitcher who defined a generation and a pitcher who is ushering in a new era faced off against each other for the first time in nearly nine months after the Korean Series (KS) last November. They both put on a masterpiece pitching performance with quality starts (QS-6 innings or more and 3 earned runs or less).

SSG Landers left-hander Kim Kwang-hyun 카지노(35) and Kiwoom Heroes right-hander Ahn Woo-jin (24) started and pitched side by side in the Kiwoom vs SSG game of the 2023 KBO League regular season at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, on May 31.

SSG’s Kim Kwang-hyun pitched seven innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts, while Kiwoom’s Ahn Woo-jin pitched six innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts.

Ahn struck first. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ahn gave up a leadoff single to Heredia and a double to Choi Joo-hwan with runners on first and second. After giving up a walk to Han Yu-seom to load the bases, Ahn gave up an infield single to Jeon Eui-san for the first run of the game.

Kim Kwang-hyun gave up two runs in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he gave up a single to Dawson and a double to Kim Hwijip in left field, then scored on Lee Joo-hyung’s sacrifice fly to left field. He then gave up a double to Lee Hyung-jong with the bases loaded to score another run.

Kim threw a total of 98 pitches on the day. He centered on his slider (34 pitches) and mixed in his changeup (28 pitches), fastball (25 pitches), and curveball (11 pitches). His fastball topped out at 148 miles per hour. His slider ranged from 118 to 142 kilometers per hour.

Ahn threw a total of 80 pitches on the day. His fastball (36 pitches) was centered around his curveball (19 pitches), slider (14 pitches), and changeup (11 pitches). His fastball topped out at 157 miles per hour. His curveball was in the 118-133 kilometers per hour range, taking away the timing of SSG hitters.

Kim Kwang-hyun and Ahn Woo-jin also proved to have excellent command of their pitches, giving up only two and one strikeouts, respectively.
