Hanwha changes to ‘soar’ next season, hires Samsung’s Kim Jae-gul and Kiwoom’s Park Jae-sang as coaches

The Hanwha Eagles announced on the 21st that they have hired coaches Kim Jae-gul and Park Jae-sang. Coach Kim will be in charge of first team operations and third base, and Coach Park will be in charge of first team outfield and first base.

Coach Kim played professionally for the Samsung Lions from 1995 to 2009. He began his coaching career in 2010 and made a name for himself this season as Samsung’s second team manager, working with the outfield and first base.

Park then played for the SK Wyverns (now the SSG Landers) from 2001 to 2017. After his retirement, he began his coaching career with SK and has served as the Kiwoom Heroes’ operations and infield coach since 2022.

“Coach Kim’s expertise and rich experience in the field of operations and baserunning, as well as Coach Park’s energy and communication skills, are expected to help the team’s performance,” said the Hanwha Eagles.

Hanwha finished ninth in the league this season with 58 wins, six ties, 80 losses, and a .420 winning percentage.
