The Major League Baseball (MLB) Toronto Blue Jays have been swept in the first game of a three-game home series against the Chicago Cubs.
Toronto fell 2-6 at home to the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series champion Cubs at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Wednesday.
After splitting a four-game road series with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto returned home and was swept by the Cubs.
At 65-53, Toronto remained in third place in the American League East, but narrowed its lead to three games over the Boston Red Sox (61-55) and New York Yankees (60-56), who also won on the day.

Meanwhile, Toronto, which is in danger of losing its third straight series, will start Chris Bassett in Game 3 on the 13th. Hyun-jin Ryu will start the final game of the series on the 14th.
