Is it Ji So-yeon’s first or the 11th of the modern day…WK League Destiny Champ Game 2

It’s either Suwon FC Womin with Ji-So-Yeon or Incheon Hyundai Steel, the reigning WK League champions.

Suwon and Incheon will meet in the second leg of the 2023 WK League Championship on May 25 at the Incheon South East Asia Rugby Stadium, home of Incheon Hyundai Steel.

Much will be riding on whether or not South Korean women’s soccer star Ji So-yeon can win her first domestic title.

Ji made her professional debut with Kobe Ainak (Japan) in 2011 and went on to play for Chelsea Women (England) from 2014 to 2022, where she was named the club’s best player, before making her first WK League appearance in 2022.레모나토토

Upon her return to Korea, Ji-So-yeon had expressed a small hope that “there would be more interest in the WK League than before, and that we could shake up the league’s box office and the top tier,” and it worked.

With Ji So-yeon at the helm, Suwon has become more than a dark horse in just two years. This season, Suwon edged out regular-season runner-up Hwacheon KSPO in the playoffs and then dominated the championship game, winning 3-1.

Much of the credit for the victory goes to Ji So-yeon, who scored a multi-goal performance, including a spectacular free kick.

Ji So-yeon is not the only player in the squad, as Moon Mi-ra, Chu Hyo-joo, Jeon Eun-ha, and Moon Mi-ra are all in good form. We’re in a great mood after winning the first game.

If Suwon can get over the final hurdle, they will win their first title in 13 years, since 2010, when they were part of Suwon City Corporation. Ji So-yeon, who came back with big plans and ambitions, could lift the WK League trophy for the first time in his career.

Despite winning the first leg, it’s too early to be optimistic about the title. The opponent is an absolute powerhouse that has won an unprecedented 10 consecutive WK League titles, and it’s been 10 years since the phrase “au jecheol” (Incheon Hyundai Steel will win anyway) was coined.

In addition to Ji So-yeon and her longtime teammates Kim Hye-ri, Kim Jung-mi, Jang Seul-ki, Kang Chae-rim, and Son Hwa-yeon, the roster is packed with national stars across all positions. The team finished the regular season in first place with a record of 13 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses (42 points).

There are many instances where the team has come from behind after dropping the first game during their 10-year championship run. In particular, in 2018, the team lost the first game 0-3 in the championship match against Gyeongju Hansuwon and then reversed it with a 4-1 win in the second game.

The majority of the squad are veterans who have won championships before, so they are used to the big stage.

Incheon has had a few close calls in recent years, but they’ve always managed to stay on top, and they’re determined to hold off Suwon’s challenge and win their 11th consecutive title. The fact that the second leg will be played at the Southeast Asia Rugby Stadium, where the home fans are fired up, is also a plus for Incheon.
